Why Tallow?
Tallow has been used for generations as a simple, deeply nourishing way to care for skin.
Naturally rich in fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins, tallow helps moisturize and support the skin's natural barrier without the need for a long list of ingredients.
For us, it was a simple choice: start with an ingredient that does a whole lot on its own, then add only what earns its place in the jar.

Long Lane Naturals grew from our family farm and a desire to make simple, effective products with ingredients we could understand and trust.
We render our tallow ourselves, in-house, before turning it into skincare in small batches here in Ontario. It's a hands-on process from start to finish, and that's intentional.
We're still a small family business. We still make our products ourselves. And we're still pretty firm believers that doing something well matters more than doing it fast.

What is tallow?
Tallow is rendered beef fat. When carefully rendered and filtered, it becomes a clean, stable base that has been used traditionally in skincare for generations.
Does tallow smell like beef?
Properly rendered tallow should not have a strong “beef” smell. Because it is an animal-based product, there may be a faint natural aroma depending on the batch and your sensitivity to scent. In our scented products, essential oils provide the primary fragrance.
Is tallow greasy?
Tallow is a rich, concentrated moisturizer, so a little goes a long way. When used in small amounts, it absorbs into the skin and leaves it feeling conditioned rather than coated.
